Case Study: Fight Cancer Foundation – Strategic Options Review

Fight Cancer Foundation (FCF) is a national Australian charity providing accommodation, care, and support for cancer patients and their families. Established in 1989 as the Bone Marrow Donor Institute, FCF now operates short- and medium-term accommodation centres for rural and interstate patients accessing major treating hospitals in New South Wales and Victoria.

Like many charities, FCF faces mounting pressures: an ageing facility, declining post-COVID donations, rising operating costs, and growing demand for services. To safeguard its mission, FCF engaged Right Lane Consulting to lead a strategic options review. Leveraging our sector expertise, we identified high-impact pathways, exploring a range of future scenarios.

Our approach combined empathy, insight, and rigorous analysis. We engaged patients, families, donors, and stakeholders; assessed market trends; and tested the strategic options with industry experts.

The outcome was a clear, evidence-based roadmap with strong alignment between the board and executive. Through the options review, FCF gained the clarity and confidence to move forward with purpose. The organisation is now advancing along its chosen pathways — a transformative step to secure its future and continue delivering comfort, dignity, and hope to those who need it most.
